How the puppy nobody wanted became the dog nobody could replace.
Butters is an awesome but aging dog.
Butters is a Beagle mix.
She was born on October 4, 2010, and she is now loading her age….
She is an old dog now, unfortunately with some pretty serious health problems. This site exists partly to help with her mounting medical costs as she gets older, and partly to keep her spirit alive in something positive.
Her dad got her when she was about 7 weeks old.
His ex’s parents had one of her sisters from the same litter, and she was awesome. Butters came from a litter of about seven or eight puppies, so naturally he wanted to go see the rest of them.
When he arrived, all of them, except one, had already been spoken for.
That one puppy was Butters.
She looked different from the rest of the litter. She was noticeably smaller than her brothers and sisters, and she did not have the typical Beagle spots and coloring that most people expected. She was the runt of the litter.
Because of that, nobody picked her. Nobody wanted her.
Compared to the rest of the puppies, she looked so different that it almost made you wonder if the mailman had stopped by at some point.
So, somewhat reluctantly, he brought her home.
To be honest, he was a little disappointed at first. She was not the puppy he had pictured, and there was even a moment where he thought about bringing her back the next day. Dogs are a big commitment, and he was not sure if he had made the right decision.
But then her sweetness started to show. Her cuteness took over the house pretty quickly. And her personality spoke volumes.
It became obvious that this was not just a dog.
This was his dog.
She was meant to be with him.
Over the years that proved to be true again and again. Through many trials and tribulations in life, there was always one constant around the house: Butters.
Road trips. Couch naps. Walks. Stubborn Beagle moments. Late-night snack patrol. The usual chaos that comes with a dog who quietly believes she runs the entire house.
She turned out to be the kind of dog nobody could ever ask for a better one.
And that is where we are now.
Butters is older now. She moves a little slower, and the health issues that come with age have started to show up.
But she is still Butters.
Still supervising everything. Still the boss of the house. Still the one who somehow knows exactly when food might appear.
Butters Choice exists because of her.
The idea behind the store is simple: find practical dog gear that actually makes life easier for dogs and their humans — the kind of products that earn a real “Butters Approved.”
Because if something would not make life better for Butters, it probably does not belong here.
